Date: Feb. 5, 2016
Location: Indianapolis, IN

Governor Mike Pence today issued the following statement regarding the coordinated, multi-agency effort to arrest suspected drug dealers in Scott County, Indiana.

"I want to commend the law enforcement community for its work in taking down suspected drug dealers in Scott County, Indiana. As I said in my State of the State address, if you are selling drugs to our kids, we are coming after you. Today, thanks to the efforts of the Indiana State Police, local law enforcement agencies and our federal partners, we have sent a clear message that Indiana will not tolerate the actions of those who seek to profit from peddling dangerous substances in our communities.

"Hoosiers can rest assured that this administration will continue to combat drug abuse in Indiana. We are implementing recommendations from the Governor's Task Force on Drug Enforcement, Treatment and Prevention and will continue to pursue policies that increase penalties on serious drug offenders.

"We know the devastating effects that drugs can have on our communities. Scott County is a prime example as the HIV outbreak has been largely linked to drug abuse. Thankfully, this multi-agency effort resulted in the arrest of numerous suspected drug dealers, and I am confident that Scott County will be safer because of the courage and bravery of all involved."
